AMMAN — Jordan, the UAE, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait and the US on Monday issued a joint statement condemning Iran’s indiscriminate and reckless missile and drone attacks against sovereign territories across the region, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.
The countries said the strikes targeted sites in Bahrain, Iraq, the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, putting civilians at risk and causing damage to civilian infrastructure.
In the statement, the seven nations characterised the Iranian actions as a "serious escalation" that violates the sovereignty of multiple states and poses a direct threat to regional stability. They added that targeting civilians and states not party to hostilities constitutes reckless and destabilising behaviour.
The signatories affirmed that they stand united in defence of their citizens, sovereignty and territories, reiterating their right to self-defence in response to the attacks and their commitment to maintaining regional security.
They also praised what they described as effective cooperation in air and missile defence, saying it had prevented greater loss of life and wider destruction.
