AMMAN — Jordan signed a loan agreement with the German Development Bank (KfW) on Thursday, borrowing 30 million euros for the Water Resources Management Programme in its third phase, according to a KfW statement.
The third phase of the programme entails improvements to water supply, sanitation and reuse, as well as the national water transport system.
KfW Deputy Director Sawsan Aruri estimated approximately 4.1 million people will benefit from the plan as a result of the hygienically secure supply and sustainable management of scarce water resources it aims to ensure, the statement said.
Another agreement was signed on Thursday to fund the project’s accompanying measures (1.5 million euros).
The grant will be used for measures to ensure acceptance and proper usage of treated wastewater in the northern region of the Jordan Valley, according to the statement.
