AMMAN — Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Yarub Qudah on Saturday announced that Jordanian exports of garments and textiles to the United States will be fully exempt fromcustoms duties under the Reciprocal Trade Agreement signed in Washington last week.

The agreement grants a zero per cent tariff on all Jordanian garment and textile products, giving the Kingdom's largest export sector preferential access to the US market, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

Under the deal, the United States will also reduce reciprocal tariffs on other Jordanian exports to 10 per cent.

Qudah said the agreement is expected to boost Jordan's exports to the US, particularly garments and textiles, which remained the Kingdom's leading exports to the American market, exceeding JD431 million during the first four months of 2026.

Jordan and the United States signed the Reciprocal Trade Agreement to strengthen bilateral economic relations, expand market access for exports from both countries and facilitate trade.

Negotiated over nearly a year, the agreement builds on the longstanding economic partnership between the two countries, including the Jordan-US Free Trade Agreement, which entered into force on December 17, 2001.

Jordan and the United States signed last week a Reciprocal Trade Agreement aimed at strengthening bilateral economic relations, expanding market access and enhancing trade and investment between the two countries.

Under the agreement, the United States will reduce reciprocal customs duties on Jordanian goods to 10 per cent and grant Jordan's garments and textiles sector more preferential access to the US market, according to a government statement.

The agreement is expected to boost Jordanian exports to the United States, particularly garments and textiles, while facilitating access for US agricultural products and vehicles to the Jordanian market.

Jordan will continue to grant duty-free access to US exports under the 2001 Free Trade Agreement.

The agreement also includes provisions aimed at facilitating bilateral trade through stronger environmental enforcement, better protection of workers' rights, enhanced intellectual property protection and improved customs procedures, according to the statement.

The two sides also agreed to continue discussions on trade in services and investment with the aim of removing barriers and expanding bilateral trade and investment.
