Jordan resumes trials in artificial rainmaking

AMMAN — The Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD), in cooperation with the Royal Jordanian Air Force on Friday implemented an experiment over the King Talal Dam catchment area to induce and increase the rainfall amount.
JMD Director Mohammad Samawi said the trial was based on the Thai experience in rainmaking technology, and is similar to a previous successful experiment that was implemented in the past rain season, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Also on Saturday, WeatherTech Group announced the start of its rainmaking project in Jordan. The project is based on the “Ion Technology”, Petra, reported. Transport Minister Hussein Al Souob said such technology is characterised by its ability to improve rainfall in environment-friendly ways.
