Jordan receives JD81.7m in foreign grants in H1 of 2022 — Finance Ministry

AMMAN — Foreign grants in the first half of 2022 totalled JD81.7 million, compared with JD77 million in the same period of last year, marking an increase of JD4.6 million, or 5.9 per cent, the Ministry of Finance announced on Sunday. 

The total revenues of the central government in the first sixth months of the year reached JD4.1 billion, compared with JD3.785 billion in the January-June period of 2021, showing an increase of 8.3 per cent, or JD313 million, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The total expenditure of the central government in the first half of 2022 reached some JD4.95 billion, up by JD328.8 million, or 7.1 per cent, compared with the expenditure of the corresponding period of the previous year, which stood at JD4.62 billion.

The ministry attributed the expenditure increase to the growing current expenditures by JD176.4 million, or 4.2 per cent, and the increase of capital expenditures by JD152.4 million, or 39.5 per cent. 

These financial developments led to a post-grant deficit in the general budget during the January-June period of 2022 of JD847.4 million, compared with a post-grant deficit of JD831.7 million in the corresponding period of 2021.

On the other hand, the pre-grant deficit stood at some JD929 million in the first six months of 2022, compared with a JD908.8 million pre-grant deficit for the same period of last year.
