Jordan ready to work with US to achieve peace based on two-state solution — Foreign minister

AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Safadi on Tuesday said: "We sent a joint message to the US secretary of state after the Cairo meeting, which stressed our readiness to work with the US to achieve a just and lasting peace based on the two-state solution."
During a press conference at the Foreign Ministry with his Greek counterpart Giorgos Gerapetritis, Safadi added: "Our message to the world during the Cairo meeting was that the Arab world is ready to immediately engage in achieving a just peace in cooperation with our international partners," Al Mamlaka TV reported.
The minister also highlighted the importance of His Majesty King Abdullah’s visit to the US and his meeting with US President Donald Trump, stressing the “strategic” relations between Amman and Washington.
His Majesty is scheduled to meet with President Trump at the White House on February 11, after receiving an invitation letter from the president last week.
Safadi reiterated that the US plays a key role in the region, underscoring Washington’s importance in achieving peace in the Middle East.
Meanwhile, the minister said that there are positive developments in the region that must be built upon.
He also stressed that delivering aid to Gaza is a priority, highlighting the need to maintain the ceasefire in the war-torn Strip.
