Jordan ranks 61st in Rule of Law Index

AMMAN — Jordan ranked 61st among 142 countries in the Rule of Law Index released by the World Justice Project (WJP) on October 23. 

Denmark topped the list, followed by Norway, Finland, Sweden, and Germany, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported on Monday. 

In the Middle East and North Africa region, Jordan placed third among nine countries, including Egypt, Lebanon, Kuwait, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Iran, and the UAE that ranked first, with Kuwait ranking second.

The index also reported that, among 38 lower-middle-income countries, Jordan secured the second position, noting that the Kingdom was one of 59 countries to make "significant progress" in combating corruption between 2023 and 2024.

The WJP is an independent, multidisciplinary organisation dedicated to generating knowledge, raising awareness, and promoting action to advance the rule of law. 

The project defines the rule of law as a sustainable framework comprising laws, institutions, norms, and civic commitment that ensures accountability, legal transparency, open governance, and accessible justice.
