Jordan Radio celebrates 61st anniversary

AMMAN — Jordan Radio and Television Corporation on Saturday celebrated the 61st anniversary of Jordan Radio, which made its first broadcast in 1956, according to a statement from the corporation. Jordan’s first radio broadcasts were received from Ramallah and the Kingdom did not adopt a radio service of its own until 1948, according to a statement from the corporation.

In 1976, Jordan Radio Foreign Service first broadcast a three-hour service upon the directives of His Majesty the late King Hussein. Today, it broadcasts 24-hour services in both Arabic and English. Radio Jordan Foreign Service frequencies are 96.3 in Amman, 99.7 in Aqaba and 90.9 in Irbid and northern Jordan. Radio Jordan's services also include Amman fm, a station for youth, Al Quran Al Kareem and Al Barnamij Al Aam.
