Jordan participates in Astana OIC science and technology summit

AMMAN — Deputising for His Majesty King Abdullah, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Adel Tweisi on Sunday participated in the first summit on Science and Technology of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which commenced in Astana, Kazakhstan.
The summit, in which a number of heads of state and governments and representatives of OIC member states are taking part, will address a number of topics of common importance to Islamic countries, particularly in the sectors of water, energy, health, environment and food and water security.
The two-day event will focus on means to enhance science, technology and innovation and on the importance of promoting scientific and technical advancement, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The summit will be concluded by the Astana Declaration on Science, Technology and Innovation, titled "science and technology for the sake of the nation", according to Petra.
