AMMAN — The Triquetra Trophy for the first Jordan Mixed Open presented by Ayla, was unveiled in London this week, according to a statement sent by the tournament

The Managing Director of the Jordan tourism Board Abed Al Razzaq Arabiyat was joined by representatives from the European Challenge Tour, the Staysure Tour and the Ladies European Tour for the unveiling, which was held at the World Travel Market in London.

The tournament will be the first in the golf world to see professionals from the tours comprised of men, ladies and seniors compete over the same golf course for the same prize. They will also be joined by a leading amateur from their respective categories, the statement said.

The trophy, which is made of 15 kilogrammes of cut-crystal, will be presented to the winner of the tournament, which is set to take place at Ayla Golf Club on April 4-6.

Upon unveiling the trophy, Arabiyat said: “Golf is central to the vision of Aqaba as a tourist destination and of Ayla as one of the world’s most forward-thinking residential and recreational communities... we believe the Jordan Mixed Open presented by Ayla is set to be a landmark event which further endorses and showcases our offering.”

Ayla Oasis development managing director, Sahl Dudin, added that "Ayla Golf Club offers golf enthusiasts, professional players and amateurs, an unparalleled experience... We hope that our hosting of the Jordan Mixed Open will add a new dimension to Jordan’s tourism offerings and to the global golf scene”.

At the event, the senior project manager of the European Challenge Tour Jamie Hodges said: “What makes the Jordan Mixed Open presented by Ayla truly ground-breaking is that everyone in the field is competing for one prize, so I am thrilled to see the way the Triquetra Trophy represents this key innovation, while also being just a beautiful standalone piece of artwork.”
