AMMAN — Jordan on Friday marked the International Museums Day, celebrated annually on May 18, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The day aims to provide the opportunity for museum professionals to meet the public and raise awareness about the importance of museums and the challenges that face them.
Tourism Minister Lina Annab said that museums are “mirrors” of people and civilisations and abbreviate thousands of years through simplified and comprehensive showcasing.
Annab noted that there are 35 museums across Jordan that are classified as archaeological, folk and arts, military and museums that exhibit the lives of national figures.
On the occasion, the ministry announced exempting visitors from entree ticket fees to celebrate the day and encourage people to visit.
