Jordan marks anniversary of Army Day, Great Arab Revolt

AMMAN — Jordan on Tuesday marks the anniversary of Army Day and the Great Arab Revolt, when the emir of Mecca and the King’s great-great-grandfather, Sharif Hussein Bin Ali, led an uprising against Ottoman rule in the region.

The Revolt marks a milestone in the country’s history as it led to the establishment of the modern Kingdom of Jordan.
