AMMAN — President of the Jordan and Amman Chambers of Commerce Khalil Haj Tawfiq and Iraqi Ambassador to Jordan Omar Barzanji on Tuesday discussed enhancing economic cooperation between Jordan and Iraq.

Tawfiq underscored the importance of boosting bilateral trade, fostering investment partnerships, and capitalising on promising economic opportunities in both countries.

He also stressed the need to build on shared interests across various sectors for the mutual benefit of the two neighbouring nations, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Barzanji noted that the Iraqi Embassy has begun issuing one-year visas to Jordanian businesspeople “without any complications”, aiming to facilitate smoother cross-border economic engagement.

He also invited Jordanian stakeholders in the trade and services sectors to participate in an economic forum scheduled to be held by the Iraqi government in mid-June.

Barzanji said that, during the forum, 129 investment opportunities would be offered, calling on Jordanian companies and investors to take part.

Barzanji expressed appreciation for the current level of Jordanian-Iraqi cooperation, especially in the economic field, but emphasised the need to further develop and support these ties to meet the aspirations of both countries.
