Jordan, India discuss investment cooperation

AMMAN — Jordan’s relations with India have witnessed a turning point in the last two years, with the two countries sharing mutual perspectives on the threat of terrorism, Indian Minister of State for External Affairs M. J. Akbar has said.

The minister, who is in Jordan as part of a regional tour, met on Saturday with Jordan Investment Commission (JIC) Secretary General Mikhled Omari and discussed economic and tourism features of the Kingdom’s Development Zones.

Omari expressed JIC’s keenness to facilitate procedures for Indian investors in the Kingdom, calling on them to get acquainted with investment incentives and the infrastructure at the development zones.

He highlighted the pharmaceutical, ICT, transport, mining, medical tourism and energy sectors as promising for investments. Akbar also visited the Jordanian Businessmen Association (JBA).

JBA President Hamdi Tabbaa said India has become the third most important trade partner of Jordan after the US and China.
