Jordan imports 613,000 heads of sheep in two months

AQABA — Jordan has imported 613,000 heads of sheep and 42,000 heads of cattle through Aqaba during the past two months, part of which is for local consumption and the rest is re-exported to neighbouring countries, Aqaba Agriculture Director Ibrahim Gharib said Tuesday.

Gharib noted that a new shipment is not allowed entry before samples are taken and tested. The shipment remains in quarantine for 21 days at special free zones and are then either allowed entry or rejected based on the test results.
