AMMAN — The Jordan Tourism Board (JTB), in cooperation with the Jordanian Embassy in London, hosted a delegation of students and alumni from British prestigious universities, including Oxford, King's College London and the London School of Economics.

The visit, which took place between 18 and 25 August, was part of the UK-Middle East and North Africa networking initiative and aimed at promoting Jordan as a top educational tourism destination for British university students, according to a JTB statement, cited by the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

During their tour, the delegation met with several prominent figures including HRH Prince Hassan, chairman of the Higher Council for Science and Technology (HCST), Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh, Senator Mohamed Momani, Secretary General of the Foreign Ministry Majed Qatarneh, and Abdul Razzaq Arabiyat, JTB Director General.

Discussions focused on the economic impact of the tourism sector in Jordan, with particular emphasis on the value of educational tourism for British students, notably opportunities to study Arabic and explore archaeological sites.

The guest delegation expressed interest in establishing partnerships with UK universities to enhance the promotion of Arabic language programmes in Jordan, and offered to help identify students interested in Middle East studies, Arabic language courses and archaeology.

In addition, the delegation suggested organising information sessions and presentations at prestigious British institutions such as Oxford, King's College London and the London School of Economics to increase engagement with students and faculty interested in studying in the UK, thereby strengthening cultural ties between the UK and Jordan.

The initiative aims to promote cultural understanding and strengthen links between the UK and countries in the MENA region.
