AMMAN — A total of 100,000 people visited the Jordan Food 2017 exhibition, which concluded on Sunday, according to organisers.

The food event, held at the Expo Land near the Queen Alia International Airport south of Amman, was organised by the International Promoters Company (IPCO), in cooperation with Amman Chamber of Industry, the Islamic International Arab Bank and Giant Industrial Group, a previous statement from the organisers said.

“Jordan Food 3” witnessed a large turnout, where crowds flocked to sample the showcased products, IPCO General Manager, Raed Abu Saadeh, told The Jordan Times.

The five-day fair saw the participation of 65 local food industry and international agents, including 50 Jordanian food and packaging factories.

It aimed to promote Jordanian products among domestic and international consumers, and to highlight the “high standards of all of Jordan’s imported and locally produced food”, Saadeh said.

The largest food exhibition in the Kingdom, the fair included Jordanian-made and imported food products, in addition to products from the packaging sector, Saadeh noted.

During the event, visitors had the chance to sample a variety of food products available on the domestic market, the manager said.

Saadeh noted that the expo, which gathered importers, traders, manufacturers and owners of hypermarkets and shopping malls, included free samples of the showcased food items, in addition to the distribution of gifts, a children’s play area and parking lots.

He stressed the importance of promoting national products through such an event, noting plans to expand the fair by inviting companies from other countries to participate and to hold the event multiple times each year.

Jordan has around 2,500 food facilities, including factories, and the value of food sector is estimated at JD4 billion, according to Saadeh.
