AMMAN — Non-Jordanians entering the Kingdom through border crossings will now receive a three-month temporary residency permit, instead of one month, under new measures announced by the Ministry of Interior on Thursday, excluding those entering on work visas.

Interior Minister Mazen Farayah said the step comes as part of a broader effort to streamline entry and residency procedures and support the national economy, according to a ministry statement.

Under the new arrangements, eligible visitors will have the three-month temporary residency stamped directly on their passports at border entry points, eliminating the need for follow-up procedures after arrival. Farayah noted that the measures maintain the existing visa framework and are intended to encourage higher numbers of travellers to visit Jordan for tourism, medical treatment and other purposes.

Extending the permitted stay, he added, is expected to support both the tourism and medical tourism sectors by allowing tourists and patients to remain in the Kingdom longer and receive treatment at Jordanian hospitals, thereby increasing activity in the tourism and health sectors.

Farayah also said the decision aims to attract more investment by allowing potential investors more time to explore and assess opportunities in Jordan, which could help boost overall investment levels.

Previously, foreign nationals were granted a one-month temporary residency at border crossings and were required to visit a security centre to extend their stay for an additional two months. The new measures are in line with the Residency and Foreigners Affairs Law No. 24 of 1973 and its amendments.
