AMMAN — Jordan in the past two days exported 284 shipments of fruit and vegetables that weighed 5,457 tonnes to the Gulf countries, Agriculture Ministry Spokesperson Nimer Haddadin said on Thursday.
The numbers indicate a “remarkable increase” that would benefit farmers who suffered successive losses due to border closures with Syria and Iraq, Haddadin told the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
The spokesperson noted that national exports of fruit and vegetables during the first three months of 2016 reached 162,000 tonnes.
