Jordan evacuates 44 citizens from Lebanon

AMMAN — Following His Majesty King Abdullah's directives, Jordan on Monday evacuated 44 citizens from Lebanon using a military aircraft from the Royal Jordanian Air Force.

The plane arrived at Rafic Hariri International Airport earlier on the day, bringing much-needed humanitarian aid for the Lebanese people, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra. 

The ministry's spokesperson said that the evacuation was part of a coordinated plan involving the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF), security agencies, the Ministry of Interior, and the National Centre for Security and Crisis Management in collaboration with relevant Lebanese authorities, to ensure the safe return of Jordanians amid the ongoing Israeli aggression in Lebanon.

He stressed that the Jordanian embassy in Lebanon maintains continuous communication with the Jordanian community, utilising a database managed by the ministry’s operations centre to ensure that all Jordanians in Lebanon are safe, with no injuries reported.

To facilitate the evacuation process, a team from the Jordanian embassy in Beirut will be stationed at Rafic Hariri International Airport, the spokesperson said, expressing his gratitude to the Lebanese authorities for their cooperation in enabling these evacuation operations.

He also noted that 3,219 Jordanian citizens have returned to the Kingdom via Queen Alia International Airport since early August.
