AMMAN — The Foreign Ministry on Saturday condemned the ongoing “systematic and aggressive” targeting of civilians and shelters for displaced Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, with the latest attack, which struck a school housing displaced individuals in the southern part of Gaza, resulting in the death of over 21 people and injuring dozens more.
Ministry Spokesperson Sufian Qudah reiterated the Kingdom’s condemnation and absolute rejection of Israel’s continuous violations of international law and the 1949 Geneva Convention on the protection of civilians during wartime, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.
Qudah emphasised the necessity of ensuring the protection of civilians, essential infrastructure that provides vital services to the Palestinian people, humanitarian facilities, and shelters, all of which are required to be protected under international law.
The spokesperson also urged the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, to take immediate and decisive steps to stop Israel’s war crimes and to provide protection for Palestinian civilians, stressing that international silence only encourages Israel to continue committing more crimes, exacerbating the suffering of the Palestinian people.
