AMMAN — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates expressed its deepest condolences and sympathy to the government and people of South Africa over the victims of the bus crash on Thursday.
Ministry’s spokesperson Sufian Qudah affirmed the Kingdom’s solidarity with South Africa in this painful incident, expressing sincere condolences to the families of the victims and wishing a speedy recovery for the injured, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Qudah also confirmed that there were no Jordanian citizens among the victims.
Transport ministry of South Africa said that 45 people were killed on Thursday when a bus plunged off a bridge into a ravine and caught fire.
Of the 46 people on board, 45 were killed in the accident, the ministry said in a statement carried by AFP.
The vehicle had been heading from neighbouring Botswana to Moria in the north of the country, the ministry said.
