Kuwait says arrested six people planning 'assassinations' linked to Hizbollah

AMMAN — The Foreign Ministry on Thursday condemned a foiled “terrorist” plot that targeted senior officials in Kuwait as an unacceptable attempt to threaten the country’s security, sovereignty and stability.

In a statement, the ministry reaffirmed Jordan’s rejection and denunciation of the plot, expressing the Kingdom’s full solidarity with Kuwait and support for all measures it takes to safeguard its sovereignty, security and stability, and to protect its citizens and residents.

It also stressed Jordan’s firm rejection of all forms of violence and terrorism that seek to undermine security and stability.

Kuwait arrested six people linked to Lebanon's Iran-backed Hizbollah group who were planning "assassinations" in the Gulf state, the interior ministry said on Wednesday.

Those arrested were planning "assassinations targeting symbols and leaders of the state and recruited people to carry out these missions," the ministry said in a statement, cited by AFP.
