AMMAN — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday condemned the escalating “settler terrorism” against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, most recently targeting several villages, burning homes, agricultural lands, and vehicles, uprooting trees, and attacking local residents.
In a statement, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Fouad Majali stressed Jordan's “absolute rejection of these condemned attacks by Israeli settlers,”describing them as an extension of the extreme policies and illegal actions of the Israeli government in the occupied West Bank.
He also said that such actions fuel extremism and violence while undermining chances for peace based on the two-state solution, holding Israel, the occupying power, responsible for these attacks.
Majali called on the international community to uphold its legal and moral responsibilities by compelling Israel to stop settler attacks, holding perpetrators accountable to ensure they do not escape punishment, and fulfilling the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish an independent, sovereign state on the June 4, 1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital as the sole path to achieving a just and comprehensive peace that guarantees security and stability in the region.
