AMMAN — Jordan on Saturday condemned the Israeli deadly strike on a school housing displaced Palestinians in Gaza.

The attack on Al Tabeen school in Gaza's Al Daraj neighbourhood killed around 100 Palestinians and left dozens more injured, according to health ministry in Gaza.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the assault is a "blatant" violation of international law and an "intentional" targeting of civilians and shelters for displaced people.

Sufyan Qudah, the ministry's spokesperson, expressed Jordan's condemnation of "Israel's continued violations of international law, criticising the international community's failure to take decisive action."

He also said that this inaction has encouraged Israel to move ahead with its crimes in Gaza.

Qudah also highlighted that the strike, carried out while mediators working on a potential prisoner exchange and a permanent ceasefire, "appears to be a deliberate attempt by Israel to sabotage peace efforts."

The spokesperson also stressed the urgent need for the international community to "intervene and take decisive action to stop Israel's military aggression on Gaza."
