AMMAN — Jordan on Monday condemned the provocative escalatory practices of Israeli settlers in the Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood in occupied East Jerusalem.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Haitham Abul Foul stressed that orders of eviction and forcible migration of residents of the Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood are a clear violation of international humanitarian law, stressing that Israel, as an occupying force in East Jerusalem, is obliged according to international law to protect the rights of Palestinians to their homes, said a Foreign Ministry statement.
He also reiterated that the ongoing unilateral Israeli practices and forcible migration of Palestinians from their homes are illegitimate and illegal practices that undermine opportunities to reach a just and comprehensive peace.
