AMMAN — The Foreign Ministry on Thursday condemned the Israeli Knesset’s approval, in the preliminary reading, of a bill legalising outposts in the West Bank.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Deifallah Fayez stressed that this move is a clear violation of international law and international legitimacy resolutions, mainly UN Security Council Resolution 2334, according to a ministry statement. Fayez stressed that settlement outposts are neither legitimate nor legal and they are established on private Palestinian property.
He noted that the Israeli settlement policy in the occupied Palestinian territories, whether through building settlements or expanding them, confiscating lands or forcible displacing of Palestinians, is illegal and undermine peace opportunities and efforts to reach an end to the conflict based on the two-state solution.
Fayez also called on international community to bear its responsibilities and pressure Israel to stop its settlement policy.
