AMMAN — Jordan has condemned the “blatant” Iranian attacks against civilian sites and facilities in the United Arab Emirates, which injured three Indian nationals.
In a statement on Monday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the attacks as a “flagrant violation” of the UAE’s sovereignty, warning they marked a dangerous escalation and posed a threat to the country’s security, stability and territorial integrity.
The ministry reaffirmed Jordan’s full solidarity with the UAE, expressing support for any measures it takes to safeguard its sovereignty, protect its citizens and ensure the safety of residents.
It also wished a speedy recovery to those injured.
In another statement earlier on Monday, the Foreign Ministry condemned an attack which targeted an Emirati tanker operated by ADNOC while passing through the Strait of Hormuz, describing it as a “flagrant” violation of international law and UN Security Council Resolution 2817.
The Foreign Ministry expressed Jordan’s “strong” condemnation and rejection of the attack, reaffirming the Kingdom’s solidarity with the UAE and support for all measures it takes to protect its sovereignty, security and stability.
The UAE on Monday strongly condemned an Iranian drone attack on an ADNOC oil tanker in the blockaded Strait of Hormuz.
"Targeting commercial shipping and using the Strait of Hormuz as a tool of economic coercion or blackmail represents acts of piracy by Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps," the UAE Foreign Ministry said.
The UAE Ministry of Defence announced the detection of four cruise missiles coming from Iran towards the country on Monday, noting that three missiles were successfully intercepted over the country’s territorial waters, while another fell into the sea.
The ministry confirmed that the sounds heard in various areas across the country were the result of the successful interception of the aerial threats.
