AMMAN — The government on Saturday mourned the passing of Kuwait Emir Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah.
Expressing condolences to Kuwait, Prime Minister Bisher Al Khasawneh hailed Sheikh Nawaf, as a "dedicated Arab leader who tirelessly served his country and the Arab and Islamic causes".
The prime minister announced three days of mourning, with flags to be flown at half-mast, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
Meanwhile, Senate President Faisal Fayez mourned the passing of Sheikh Nawaf, recalling the late leader's contributions to the Arab and Islamic causes, mainly Palestine.
"With the passing away of Sheikh Nawaf, the Arab and Islamic nations have lost a wise leader who dedicated his life to serving his homeland and was committed to maintaining Arab solidarity and defending Arab causes," Lower House Speaker Ahmad Safadi said.
