AMMAN — The Jordan Media Institute (JMI) on Tuesday said it has started observing the local media coverage of the upcoming parliamentary elections.
The institute said in a statement that it is monitoring the content and performance of print media, news websites, TV and radio stations.
Funded by USAID, the JMI is cooperating with FHI 360, a US-based development organisation, to observe media reporting of candidate registrations, campaign advertising, polling day and the vote count and result announcement.
JMI Dean Basim Tweissi said the institute has developed a complete scientific approach to monitor the elections coverage, based on international standards and expertise.
Some 22 researchers and technicians would observe and analyse 20 sample media outlets, he said.
