JMI launches local radio code of conduct, editorial policy

By JT - May 20,2017 - Last updated at May 20,2017

AMMAN — The Jordan Media Institute (JMI) on Saturday launched a code of conduct and a general editorial policy for local community radio stations, which consider the specific nature of each radio according to its surrounding area. The launch came at the conclusion of a workshop that was attended by directors and officials from several radio stations, according to a JMI statement.

The two-day workshop, implemented by UNESCO and funded by the EU, was held to develop capabilities of local radios stations and targeted six radios. JMI Dean Basim Tweissi said the third phase of the project includes helping these radios to produce 18 programmes — three for each station — and implement two joint programmes among participating stations.
