AMMAN — The Jordan Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission (JIACC) prosecutor has decided to detain two former Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority commissioners for 15 days at the Juweideh Correctional and Rehabilitation Centre on charges of embezzlement and abuse of public office.
The two former commissioners allegedly committed financial and administrative abuses while working on projects for the authority, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
A JIACC source on Tuesday said that the general prosecution previously detained around 10 people in relation to these projects.
The prosecutor has also decided to detain a customs broker for 15 days at Juweideh Correctional and Rehabilitation Centre on charges of abuse of public office and counterfeiting with suspects involved in the expired nuts case.
