JHCO leads humanitarian aid to Gaza with unwavering public support

AMMAN — The prevailing trends in humanitarian assistance distribution demonstrate, as per experts, an unwavering commitment of Jordanians to supporting the people of Gaza, according to Secretary-General of the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO) Hussein Shibli.

“So far, the JHCO has delivered JD2 million in medical aid, which includes medicine, urgent medical items and other life-saving supplies,” Shibli added. 

He noted that JHCO is the only body authorised to deliver aid from Jordan to Gaza.

The value of donations is increasing by the minute with each passing day, which is a positive sign of public support for relief efforts directed for the people of Gaza, he noted. “The constant donations underscore Jordanians’ commitment to supporting Palestinians in Gaza,” he said.

The level of humanitarian need in the Gaza Strip is immense, Shibli stressed. 

He emphasised that the organisation is consistently in communication with relevant Palestinian authorities to assess urgent requirements. 

Currently, food and water are delivered with the help of aid groups which are present with the civilians in Gaza, he added. Medical aid is transported to UNRWA depots and subsequently distributed to hospitals and medical facilities.

JHCO is running only one donation campaign for the humanitarian aid in Gaza titled “To Our People in Gaza”, according to Shibli who said that institutions across various sectors are collaborating with the JHCO, to raise funds for Gaza.

“As for the news circulating on social media that JHCO personnel have entered Gaza through Rafah crossing... this was incorrect,” he added.

Under Royal directives, JHCO in cooperation with the Foreign Affairs Ministry, and the Royal Jordanian Air Force, on Thursday dispatched a humanitarian assistance convoy carrying medical supplies, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra. This involved coordination with Egyptian authorities to facilitate the delivery of aid via the Rafah crossing point.
