AMMAN — Jerusalemite Muslim and Christian figures and dignitaries on Thursday praised His Majesty’s King Abdullah’s efforts in protecting the holy sites in Jerusalem, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. They highlighted the King’s role in preserving the historical status quo at Al Aqsa Mosque/Al Haram Al Sharif.
The Jerusalemites called upon His Majesty, who is the Custodian of Jerusalem’s Muslim and Christian holy places, to continue his efforts against the “arrogant” occupation, Petra reported. Meanwhile, in a memorandum addressed to the King, MPs praised His Majesty’s efforts in pressuring the Israeli government to back down from all unilateral steps and measures it has taken to change the status quo of Al Aqsa Mosque and the holy sites.
