AMMAN — A group of young people blocked the road between Jerash and Souf for a period of time on Sunday evening in protest over a shooting incident that occurred earlier in the day in the area, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
A husband had allegedly opened fire at his wife, who was pregnant, and at his mother-in-law and a neighbour earlier in the day, leading to the death of the unborn child.
According to Jerash Governor Qassem Mheidat, young people from the families of the women who were shot blocked the street with rocks and burning tyres. Conditions were brought under control after negotiations with the protesters, he added.
