Jerash police launch awareness campaign on archaeological sites

AMMAN — The Jerash Police Department's community police on Wednesday launched the "Our Antiquities are Our History and Identity" initiative. Summarising the campaign’s vision, Director of Jerash Police Brigadier Maher Shboul said that preserving the archeological sites is “a national duty”, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The campaign included the distribution of brochures including information about Jerash's monuments, their historical value and the legal penalties for vandalising historical monuments.
He added that a series of lectures targeting school students and youth centres will be held as part of the campaign.
