AMMAN — President of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce (JCC) Khalil Hajj Tawfiq on Wednesday called for building a unified Arab investment platform to detail individual investment opportunities separated by country, with the aim of maximising investment within the Arab region.
During his participation in a session at the Annual Investment Meeting (AIM Global 2023) in Abu Dhabi, Hajj Tawfiq said that the Arab world is a consumer market that imports goods worth $1 trillion annually, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The volume of inter-Arab trade is approximately 14 per cent, confirming the need to remove customs obstacles that impede the flow of goods among Arab nations, he said.
Hajj Tawfiq also stressed the need to expand Arab “added-value” investment projects to generate job opportunities for the youth, noting that Jordan has taken advanced steps to establish a modern, developed and stimulating investment environment based on the Kingdom’s security and stability.
Jordan is full of many investment opportunities with high added value, distributed among the ICT, logistics services, tourism, industry, agriculture, health, energy, renewable energy, medical tourism, mining and food industries sectors, he added.
Hajj Tawfiq also called on businessmen, investors and chambers of commerce to attend the businessmen and investment conference that will be held in Jordan later this year. The conference is being organised by the JCC in cooperation with the Arab League and the Union of Arab Chambers.
Held in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology and the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development, this year’s edition of AIM Global is themed “The Investment Paradigm Shift: Future Investment Opportunities to Foster Sustainable Economic Growth, Diversity and Prosperity”, bringing together over 600 speakers from 170 countries.
