Japan’s Order of the Rising Sun conferred upon Mulki

AMMAN — Former prime minister Hani Al Mulki was awarded the Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun, the highest class Japanese decoration for foreigners, during a ceremony at the Japanese ambassador's residence on Tuesday.
The Government of Japan decided to confer the decoration upon Mulki in spring 2021 for his contribution in strengthening bilateral relations between Japan and Jordan, according to a Japanese embassy statement.
Mulki has “greatly contributed to developing Japan-Jordan relations” in different fields, including political, defence and economic aspects through his visit to Japan in 2017 and during the visit of then-Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to Jordan, during which Japan-Jordan relationship become a strategic partnership, read the statement. Several high-ranking officials, incumbent and former ministers and current and former senators attended the ceremony.
