AMMAN — The Japanese embassy in Amman on Thursday delivered cold storage equipment to the Jordanian Food Bank (JFB) warehouses in Amman, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

In 2016, the Japanese government provided a grant of $80,117 to the JFB to finance a project to improve food refrigeration stores in Amman within the framework of the Grassroots Human Security Projects Programme, which aims to improve basic human needs at the grassroots level through non-governmental organisations and local government institutions.

The project aims to enhance the JFB’s ability to distribute food and increase storage capacity to support more needy people, including Syrian refugees, by providing a refrigerated truck, two refrigeration rooms and a food freezer in its warehouses.

It’s worth mentioning that since 1993, Japan has provided nearly $10 million to 143 projects for NGOs, schools, hospitals and local government institutions in Jordan within the framework of the Grassroots Human Security Projects Programme.
