Japan donates six waste compactors to local municipalities

AMMAN — The Japanese government, in partnership with UNDP, has provided six solid waste compactors to six local municipalities within the framework of the “Mitigating the Impact of the Syrian Refugee Crisis on Jordanian Vulnerable Host Communities” project, a Japanese embassy statement said.

The handing over ceremony took place on Tuesday in Sabha and Dafyaneh Municipality, attended by Municipal Affairs Minister Walid Masri and Japanese Ambassador to Jordan Junichi Kosuge.

The six compactors will be given to the six “neediest municipalities” affected by the Syrian crisis, which are — in addition to Sabha and Dafyaneh — Mafraq, Irbid, Ramtha, Um Al Jimal, and Salhiyeh and Nayfeh.
