January-July 2023 witnessed $4.2b in tourism revenues — CBJ

AMMAN — The Kingdom’s tourism revenues grew by 50.1 per cent during the first seven months of 2023, and reached about $4.238 billion compared with the same period of 2022, the Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ) announced on Monday.

The number of tourists arriving to the Kingdom increased to 3,720,200, up 51.3 per cent, where overnight tourists amounted to 3.085 million, marking a 47 per cent increase, and single-night guests totalled 635,000, up 76.2 per cent, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The CBJ data also showed a 19.4 per cent rise in tourism revenues in July, compared with July 2022, amounting to $782.1 million.

Outbound tourism expenditure reached $241 million in July 2023, constituting a 13.1 per cent increase, compared with the same month in 2022.

Jordanians’ expenditure on outbound tourism rose by 37.9 per cent during the January-July period of 2023 compared with the same period of 2022, reaching $1.147 billion, the data showed.
