AMMAN — The significant 61 per cent increase in Jordanian exports to Brazil last year underscores the importance of seeking non-traditional markets for Jordan’s industrial products, especially in South and Central America and Sub-Saharan Africa, Chairman of the Jordan and Amman Chambers of Industry Fathi Jaghbir said on Thursday.
Jordanian exports to Brazil reached JD145 million last year, compared with JD90 million in 2021, while Jordanian exports to Brazil in January of this year rose to JD10 million, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
The most prominent Jordanian products exported to Brazil are fertilisers, potash, phosphate, sanitation materials, as well as medical supplies, clothing products and food industries, Jaghbir said.
He added that this growth in exports to Brazil is due to fruitful cooperation between the chambers of industry, the Jordan Exports — the umbrella organiaation for export promotion and development in Jordan — and in coordination with the Jordanian embassy in the Brazilian capital.
Jaghbir praised the significant role of the Jordanian embassy in Brazil in welcoming the chambers of industry to important events and exhibitions held in Brazil, as well as its arrangement of meetings between the relevant import entities and Jordanian trade missions visiting the Brazilian capital.
He emphasised the need to activate the role of Jordanian embassies in all capitals to promote and introduce Jordanian products.
Jordan Exports is currently organising Jordan's participation in an international exhibition for supermarket supplies to be held in May in Sao Paulo with the support of the Amman Chamber of Industry, he said.
