AMMAN — The Jordan Armed Forces–Arab Army (JAF) on Wednesday dispatched a supply convoy of 10 trucks carrying specialised medicines, medical supplies, and prosthetic equipment to Jordanian field hospitals in the Gaza Strip.
The convoy is part of ongoing efforts, carried out under Royal directives, to support the two field hospitals and ensure the continued provision of medical and rehabilitation services to patients amid challenging humanitarian conditions, according to a JAF statement.
The Commander of the Jordanian Field Hospital South Gaza said that the convoy included specialised medicines, medical consumables, and prosthetic devices to strengthen treatment and rehabilitation services and help meet patients’ needs at the hospitals.
He noted that the convoy was dispatched following a field-based assessment of healthcare requirements in the Gaza Strip.
The JAF reiterated its continued commitment to supporting Palestinians through sustained medical and humanitarian assistance, including the regular provision of supplies to ensure the uninterrupted delivery of healthcare services.
The Jordanian field hospitals in northern and southern Gaza continue to operate around the clock, providing medical and humanitarian services as part of Jordan’s ongoing relief efforts in the enclave, JAF said.
Jordan runs two military field hospitals in Gaza, one in the Strip's north and was established in 2009 following the war in 2008, and the second is in Khan Younis in the south, which was established in November 2023 at the peak of the Israeli war of aggression on the coastal enclave that erupted on October 7, 2023.
Besides the field hospitals in Gaza, the JAF established the Jordanian field hospital in Nablus in late November 2023.
Other humanitarian programmes include the land bridge for aid delivery, the mobile bakery, the Restoring Hope Initiative, which provides prosthetics for amputees, and the evacuation of critical cases to Jordanian hospitals.
