AMMAN — Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Maj. Gen. Yousef Huneiti on Monday said that the General Command is proceeding with developing and modernising its units, by equipping them with trained human resources and technology to improve their capacity to defend the country's borders and deal with any threat to the Kingdom's security.
During a visit to the Eastern Military Zone, Huneiti was briefed by the zone's commander Brig. Gen. Naji Manasir on the operational, training and logistical operations and future plans for modernisation to handle all threats at Kingdom’s border fronts and thwart any attempts to undermine national security, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported on Tuesday.
The General Command will continue providing the units with various weaponry and military equipment to help them conduct the assigned tasks efficiently and respond to regional threats at all levels, he said, lauding the efforts of the Eastern Military Zone's personnel and highlighting their professionalism and morale.
The Eastern Military Zone, during this year, has foiled multiple infiltration and drug smuggling attempts by militias and organised gangs across the border.
