AMMAN — The assistant for administration and human resources on Monday inaugurated the training course for the second cohort of conscripts for National Military Service programme at the National Military Service Training Centre.

The assistant listened to a briefing presented by the director of the mobilisation and popular army department at the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) on the progress of the training, as well as the plans and programmes designed to qualify the conscripts, according to a JAF statement.

HRH Crown Prince Hussein announced the reactivation of the National Military Service Programme, during a meeting with youth from Irbid Governorate in August.

During the meeting, the Crown Prince said that young Jordanians must be prepared to serve and defend their country, adding that citizens who have participated in national military service understand the importance of this experience.

Attending the graduation ceremony of the first cohort of the National Military Service programme for 2026 in April, Prince Hussein delivered an address emphasising the importance of mobilising and investing in the potential of youth.

He also highlighted the role of the National Military Service programme in building a stronger, self-reliant Jordan that keeps pace with change.

The director noted that the training course for the second batch is progressing according to the approved plans, noting that JAF have utilised all necessary resources to ensure the success of the programme.

The commander of the centre said that the training programme was designed to incorporate physical, military, and educational aspects for the conscripts in line with the highest standards of professionalism and discipline.

He added that the training staff operate in accordance with “strict” JAF criteria to guarantee high-quality training outcomes.

At the end of the visit, the assistant met with a number of the conscripts enrolled in the course, urged them to maximise their benefit from the expertise gained during national service, highlighting its importance in qualifying them and shaping their character.
