AMMAN — The Jordan Armed Forces–Arab Army (JAF) on Wednesday conducted a new medical evacuation of 16 children from the Gaza Strip to receive treatment at Jordanian hospitals.
According to a JAF statement, 10 of the evacuated children are cancer patients, where the 16 children are accompanied by 48 family members.
The operation, part of the ongoing "Jordan Medical Corridor" initiative, involved transporting 12 children by land and four by Royal Jordanian Air Force aircraft.
One child was scheduled to be transferred to Saudi Arabia and another to the UAE, reflecting both countries’ support for the humanitarian initiative, the statement said.
The evacuation was carried out in coordination with the Ministry of Health and the World Health Organisation, with all necessary healthcare measures in place to ensure the children’s safety and well-being.
Since its launch in March under Royal directives, the Jordan Medical Corridor initiative has evacuated 57 children and 113 accompanying family members from Gaza by air and land, as part of its goal to provide treatment for 2,000 Gazan children at Jordanian hospitals, JAF noted.
