AMMAN — The Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) continues to receive internally displaced Syrians in need of medical treatment, JAF said on Saturday.

The army said it has been dealing with the impact of the Syrian crisis in the past years through facilitating the entry of refugees in Syria who faced difficult circumstances, forcing them to seek refuge in Jordan.

In a statement sent to The Jordan Times, JAF said it is seeking, in coordination with the UN and international humanitarian organisations working in the area near the Rukban camp, to increase the number of Syrians received in the Kingdom for medical conditions or injuries to reach 300 cases per day.

"This humanitarian mission, which lies upon JAF, needs unified efforts for humanitarian work from JAF on the one side and the UN and international humanitarian organisations on the other side," it added in the statement.

"This calls for the UN and other international organisations to work on increasing the number of vehicles transferring patients, improving medical clinics and providing them with the needed equipment and medical staff to deal with expected cases in the best possible way," JAF indicated in the statement.

Currently, JAF is working in coordination with the UN on facilitating the entry and transfer of critical medical cases from Rukban camp, located in the no-man’s land between Jordan and Syria, to Jordanian hospitals, the statement noted.
