AMMAN — Royal Court Secretary General Yousef Issawi, head of the follow-up committee for the implementation of Royal initiatives, on Tuesday inaugurated a number of Royal initiative projects in Zarqa.

The projects were implemented upon Royal directives that followed visits by His Majesty King Abdullah to the governorate, some 22km east of Amman, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

In Ruseifa, Issawi opened a project to renovate a centre for the rehabilitation and employment of people with disabilities, during a ceremony attended by Public Works and Housing Minister Sami Halasa and Labour Minister Samir Murad.

The centre, which was visited by the King last year, has 76 beneficiaries, 22 of whom are females.

It contains bag-making workshops, plumping products, carpentry, and handicrafts.

At the Palestinian refugee camps of Hitteen and Zarqa, Issawi inaugurated a development centre project, which aims to improve the provision of services at the camps and enhance the role of the camps' committees.

Halasa said that all renovation and maintenance works were conducted in accordance with the required technical standards in cooperation with the relevant bodies.

For his part, Murad said that the employment centre comes in line with His Majesty's vision to provide decent conditions to train people with disabilities on professions that will help them enter the labour market.

Director General of the Department of Palestinian Affairs Yaseen Abu Awad expressed the camp residents' appreciation of the Royal initiatives, which benefit all segments of the camps' communities and contribute to improving the level of infrastructure services they receive and their living conditions.
