AMMAN — Royal Court Chief Yousef Issawi on Wednesday attended a ceremony hosted by the Queen Noor Aviation University College and the Royal Jordanian Air Academy (RJAA), marking the 80th Independence Day.
The national event reflected “deep-seated” values of loyalty and belonging to the homeland and its Hashemite leadership, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
In his remarks during the ceremony, College Director-General Farhan Mashaqbeh stressed that the Independence Day marks the launch of an eight-decade journey of development and achievement, laid down by the founding fathers under the wise Hashemite leadership.
Mashaqbeh highlighted the college's pioneering role since its establishment in 1973 as a “prestigious” academic institution, noting that its historical transformation into a specialised aviation university opens a new chapter of excellence.
He stressed the college's commitment to developing academic programmes and enhancing scientific research and innovation to prepare national cadres capable of leading the future of aviation in Jordan and the region.
For his part, RJAA Director-General Mohannad Faqir underlined that celebrating the 80th Independence Day carries special symbolism as it coincides with the 60th anniversary of the academy's establishment in 1966 by a Royal Decree from His Majesty the late King Hussein.
He said that the academy takes pride in supplying the sector with “elite” pilots and technicians who currently hold top-tier positions in global institutions and companies, pledging to continue efforts to serve Jordan with integrity and devotion.
The celebration featured a documentary film highlighting key milestones in the Kingdom’s independence journey and the comprehensive developmental achievements witnessed by the aviation sector.
At the end of the ceremony, the college and academy presented Issawi with honorary plaques.
