AMMAN — UNESCO’s choice of Irbid as the Arab capital of culture for 2021 is a “source of pride” for Jordan and the Arab world, Prime Minister Omar Razzaz said on Thursday.
Heading the first meeting for the higher national committee for arranging an event to mark the occasion, Razzaz pointed to Irbid's role in education and culture, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The premier stressed the government's readiness to provide the necessary support for the event in terms of infrastructure, service, administrative and financial aspects, highlighting the importance of establishing a fund with the contribution of private sector and civil community institutions to support cultural projects.
